Christmas Concert - Carols and Fantasies - December 19, 2019

Join us at Davis Middle School on December 19th at 7:00 pm for a fun, free, family Christmas concert featuring the Evanston Civic Orchestra and the Evanston Civic Chorus.

Carols and Fantasies will showcase familiar favorites such as "The Nutcracker" and "Jingle Bells."  Young and old will delight in "Twas the Night Before Christmas," featuring Uinta County Library Children's Librarian, Michelle Kallas as guest narrator.

Audience members are invited to join the orchestra and chorus in a reception afterwards.

ECOC Fundraiser at NU2U - October 26, 2019

Don't miss out on a great bargain this Saturday, October 26th, from 10:00 am - 4:00 pm at Evanston's thrift store, NU2U.  Your purchases during that time will be supporting the Evanston Civic Orchestra and Chorus, as NU2U will generously be donating 80% of all thrift store sales to ECOC.

Trying to piece together a Halloween costume?  Looking for materials for fall crafting?  Sad that yard sale season is over?  NU2U is the place to start your fall shopping this Saturday. 

NU2U just recently changed location to a much larger store at 1624 Harrison Dr.  They even have a dedicated room for holiday decorations, clothing, housewares, and more!  Come early for the best selection, and bring your friends!  This fundraiser helps to support ECOC in producing their much-anticipated Christmas and spring concerts for the community.

Support the ECOC - Shop at NU2U on Saturday, October 27th

Shop at NU2U on Saturday, October 27th, from 10:00 - 4:00 p.m.  NU2U will donate 80% of thrift store sales to the Evanston Civic Orchestra and Chorus.

Every week the thrift store adds about a thousand items to their shelves.  Find craft supplies, fabric, costumes, clothing for all ages, books, kitchen utensils and gadgets, office gadgets, holiday decorations, and more!

Yard sale season is over, but you can still get great buys when you shop at NU2U.  What's more, you'll feel great about helping the ECOC raise funds for this year's programming: Handel's Messiah on December 1st in Kemmerer and December 3rd in Evanston; A Cappella Night with the chorus on February 8th; Winter Concert with the orchestra on February 22nd.

Fall rehearsals for Handel's Messiah start soon

New members are welcome this fall in the Evanston Civic Orchestra & Chorus as they start preparations for their Christmas concert on December 1st and December 3rd - Handel's Messiah. Rehearsals are Thursdays from 6-8 p.m. at Davis Middle School

Chorus starts September 6th
Orchestra starts October 4th (at EMS this week only)

The orchestra is particularly looking for new string players, and the chorus will accept singers for all parts. Auditions are not required, though membership is typically open to high-school age youth and adults with a moderate degree of training or experience who can perform the music. Younger students are accepted when they are musically able to perform the music, socially mature, and recommended by a teacher. A membership contribution of $20 for adults and $10 for students is requested of members, though everyone is welcome to participate regardless of ability to contribute. Spring Concert "Together" - May 7, 2018

Our spring concert is coming up soon. The orchestra is playing some great orchestral works that are very familiar, including "The Moldau" by Smetana and a movement from Schubert's "Unfinished Symphony." The Chorus is singing some beautiful songs, including "Dirait-on" and "Oh, My Love's Like a Red, Red Rose." The exciting finale of the concert will be a combined orchestra and chorus piece, "Dry Your Tears, Afrika" by John Williams. See you on May 7th, 7:00 p.m. at Davis Middle School. The concert is free, and families are invited.

Spring 2018 Schedule

The Evanston Civic Orchestra is exciting to be collaborating with the BYU Chamber Orchestra for the February 23rd concert, 7:00 pm at Davis Middle School.  This concert is part of The Arts Inc. Concert Series and tickets are required.  Buy your tickets from the Evanston Civic Orchestra and Chorus to help in their fundraiser.  The Arts Inc. will donate back to them 1/2 of the ticket sales they make.  Use our contact form to coordinate.

On March 26th the Evanston Civic Chorus will host an a cappella concert for the whole community at Evanston Middle School, 7:00 pm.  This concert is free and families are encouraged to attend together.  Small a cappella ensembles are invited to participate on the program.  Contact us to show your interest.

Both the orchestra and the chorus will combine for the final spring concert on May 7th, 7:00 pm at Davis Middle School.  Refreshments will be served, and families are invited to this free concert.

Evanston Community Christmas Gala - December 1st!

  • Musical Groups, including: Evanston Civic Orchestra; Evanston Civic Chorus; Evanston Handbell Choir; Evanston Men's Chorus; Evanston Women's Chorus; Madrigal Singers; church musical groups from Trinity Lutheran Church, Union Presbyterian Church, St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Aspen Church, and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints; and other small ensembles.
  • Community Service Slideshow, featuring photos that show individuals and groups from the community being a light in the world during 2017.

The highlight of the concert will be the orchestra and combined choir finale, "Away in a Manger."

Fall Concert - My Song in the Night - October 30th

Mark your calendars now so you don't miss our combined fall concert, My Song in the Night: A Musical Journey of Faith, Fun, and the Fantastic.

Fall 2017 - Season Schedule

Rehearsals for the fall 2017 season will start for both the orchestra and the chorus on Thursday, August 31, 2017 from 6-8 pm at Davis Middle School.  A combined Fall Concert is scheduled for October 30th and the Evanston Community Christmas Gala will be held on December 1st.  Both groups and other community ensembles will be featured at the Gala.

All adult and high school musicians are welcome in either the chorus or the orchestra.  New members are encouraged to join us.  Just show up to the first rehearsal on August 31st.

America the Beautiful Concert - May 25, 2017

Don't miss our concert next week on Thursday, May 25th at 7:00 p.m. at Evanston Middle School.  It's free and families are invited.

With the theme America the Beautiful, the orchestra and chorus celebrate our country with patriotic songs, folk songs, spirituals, and a fun orchestral piece by American composer Leroy Anderson.

Rehearsals Beginning for Spring 2016 Concerts - Join Us!

Rehearsals for both the Civic Chorus and Civic Orchestra begin on February 9th from 6-8 p.m. at Davis Middle School and will continue most weeks through May.  All community members who play orchestral instruments or sing are welcome to join us.  Just show up to rehearsal to sign up!

The orchestra will be joining Rob Verdi of Saxophobia for several songs during his concert at Davis Middle School on April 14th.  This concert is part of The Arts Inc. Concert Series and requires a ticket for admission.  They can be purchased at the door.

Both the orchestra and chorus will join to produce a free Americana concert on May 25th at Evanston Middle School.
